Radio Naba iPhone Application - Streaming radio
Last January I visited Club Transmediale festival again. If you have never been there and are into experimental music, meeting interesting people, seeing great concerts and media and arts, I recommend you to visit it once.
At Club Transmediale I met Marika from Radio Naba, Latvia. I mentioned that I was working on Shoudio and I previously made the TodaysArt iPhone app. She told me how cool it would be if they had there own application, but as they are well underfunded, no money was available :D
I actually mentioned her that I did another app the other day, way underpaid and that I did it with lots of love and passion, but wasn’t going to do that again. Well, it turned out otherwise.
It was during a morningcoffee in the Morena Bar that I started to setup a basic app, because all Radio Naba needed was a streaming radio app.
I recycled some other code and added functionalities for:
- streaming radio (they already have a shoutcast broadcast)
- twitter overview
- rss newsfeed
- youtube clips from their youtube page.
In order to stay in touch with my business side I added Admob’s ads on some spots of the app and submitted it to the appstore. Only 5 days after our initial conversation the Radio Naba app went live. By now it has been downloaded over 500 times, not bad for Latvia’s fifth radio station!
