AppReview: Shoudio is a funny concept about location based audio recordings
First off, I am biased as I’ve released this app and webservice. Let me introduce it:
Shoudio.com has just launched the webservice and free iPhone application for recording, sharing and discovering Location Based Audio Recordings. You can use the new Shoudio iPhone app to publish location based audio recordings to Twitter, Facebook and iTunes.
With the free app you can instantly start recording audio snippets, which will be, once uploaded, tied to your current location and Shoudio profile. Ofcourse you can connect your Facebook and Twitter account to the Shoudio app and decide per recording whether you want to post them to those networks. In Facebook the audio message can be played directly on the ‘wall’, posting to Twitter will be done with the GPS coordinates thus showing that info below the tweet linking to the recording. The website is smartphone friendly (html5 audioplay)
Every user profile and channel page has a link to subscribe to the podcast feed with iTunes/ipod/pad/phone. This way you can follow channels and other users via iTunes; comfortable automatic synchronization at hands.
Location data is always shared
Shoudio is about Location Based Audio Recordings. Every uploaded recording is automatically tied to the location where the you were when he/she started the recording. Once the recording is being uploaded this data will be posted publically available on the Shoudio site. So if you don’t want to have a certain location become known to the public, you shouldn’t record a Shoudio at that spot :D
I am working on v2 of the iPhone app with ways of listening to recordings from the area a you are currently located, thus offering an Audiogmented Reality.
‘Channels’ in Shoudo are like hashtags in Twitter. A channel is a group of Shoudios about a specific topic. You can follow topics like ‘streetmusic’, ‘carneval’, ‘poetry’, ‘citysounds’, ‘nature’ or start your own channel. In the iPhone app you can simply type the name of the channel to publish in and/or start that channel.
